Second Harvest food distributions to run through August

SANTA CRUZ—Second Harvest Food Bank hosted a drive-thru community food distribution Friday at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Supported by numerous volunteers and members of the California National Guard, the distribution unfolded under overcast skies as part of ongoing county-wide distributions that alternate between the Boardwalk and the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville.

Santa Cruz County residents lined up in their vehicles to receive a bag of pantry items and another containing produce along with additional foods.

“Second Harvest is committed to providing these community-wide drive-thrus as long as need continues in our community,” said Suzanne Willis, Second Harvest development and marketing officer.

Drive-thru distribution takes place between 9am-1pm on Fridays.

The distribution schedule is:

July 24, Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds (Watsonville).
July 31, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Aug. 7, Fairgrounds
Aug. 14, Boardwalk
Aug. 21, Fairgrounds
Aug. 28, Boardwalk
