The public will be given a chance to take a huge step back in time at the Santa Cruz County History Fair in Capitola on May 18.

The one-day event will showcase a wealth of displays, demonstrations and early-day photos between noon and 4 p.m. at the Capitola Community Center at Jade Street Park, 4400 Jade St.

Visitors can learn about local industries, archeology, early settlers, genealogy, indigenous peoples, how to do historical research and more.

Sponsored by the Capitola Historical Museum, the free event will feature participation from more than 20 museums, including the Pajaro Valley Historical Association, S.C. Museum of Natural History, the S.C. Museum of Art and History, the Soquel Pioneer Historical Assc., the Castro Adobe, the Davenport Jail Museum and more.

Activities for all ages and books for sale will also be on the menu.

“Bring your questions, curiosity, and perhaps an old photo to share, or just come and look,” organizers said.
