SANTA CRUZ COUNTY—Santa Cruz County on Monday saw its largest single-day jump, 20, in Covid-19 cases since the virus started its spread along the Central Coast in early March.
The case spike increases the county’s active cases to 100, and raises its total case count to 322. Only 38 of those county residents have required hospitalization and 200 of them have recovered. Two have died.
Cases in Watsonville also continue to rise, as nearly half (160) have been identified in the county’s southernmost city and another 11 have been linked to the South County area.
People between the ages of 18-34 now make up the largest portion (98) of the county’s cases.
The county has conducted 14,667 tests to date. According to state data, nine residents have been hospitalized in the last 14 days and two have been moved to the ICU during the same time period.
