SANTA CRUZ—The family of the 8-year-old girl who was murdered in 2015 is facing a new tragedy after someone stole the urn containing her ashes.

Madyson “Maddy” Middleton’s family says that her father Michel Middleton was keeping the urn in the glovebox of his unlocked car when someone entered and stole several items.

The family says they want the urn back, with no questions asked.

Adrian Gonzalez, now 20, has been charged in Maddy’s murder. He is being held in Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $5 million bail and facing numerous felony charges.

The green, ceramic urn is about 3-and-a-half inches tall.
