RIO DEL MAR—Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies on Monday arrested two men for drug and gun charges after one of them pointed a loaded gun at another driver in a road rage incident.
Damian Hernandez, 20, and Israel Ibarra, 18, both Morgan Hill residents, were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. They were not in custody Tuesday morning, jail records showed.
According to sheriff’s spokeswoman Ashley Keehn, a witness called 911 after seeing a driver pointing a gun at another person.
Deputies found the car a short time later near Rio Del Mar Beach. Ibarra was in possession of a stolen firearm and Hernandez had a firearm that was not registered to him, Keehn said.
They also had several hundred dollars in cash and approximately 140 grams of marijuana in the vehicle, she said.
