Two injured in La Selva plane crash

LA SELVA BEACH — Two people were transported by air ambulance Saturday after the plane they were flying crashed on the runway near Monterey Bay Academy.

According to Cal Fire, multiple agencies responded to report of a downed aircraft on a landing strip near San Andreas Road at McQuaide Drive at about 10:35 a.m.

The pilot and a passenger were airlifted to a trauma center, where their condition is currently unknown.

The cause of the crash is also unknown, and officials from the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
